About George Jung
George Jacob Jung (born August 6, 1942), nicknamed “Boston George”, was an American mid-level marijuana / cocaine dealer and smuggler during the 1970’s and early 1980’s. Jung claimed to be part of the Medellin Cartel, which was responsible for up to 85 percent of the cocaine smuggled into the United States. He specialized in the smuggling of cocaine from Colombia and Mexico. After being arrested in the late 80’s Jung testified in the trial of former accomplice and former cellmate Carlos Rivas Lehder receiving a reduction in sentence, few years after his release Jung was arrested once again for the last time (in 1995).
Jung was released from prison on June 2, 2014 after serving nearly 20 years.
The character portrayed in the 2001 film Blow, starring Johnny Depp was inspired by George Jung AKA “Boston George”.
